Employing the archetypes of The Bastard and The Critical Troll, Imrichova attempts, with the driest of humours, to challenge and complicate the viewers viewing. Centering what “shouldn’t” be centered over and over and over -- edging the audience for 50 minutes with literally nothing but tension, with literally nothing but the rudimentary, with literally nothing but the infantile, and with literally nothing but pop: Andy-Warhol-style-pop. Liberated from virtuosity ‘This Is Not A Metaphor’ is set in The Desert, commanding the space with a transmission of paranoia, hollowed out intensity, and superfluous specificity - stripping away conventional content while amplifying form, rhythm, and presence to a near-excruciating degree.
